Everything on this page was written for the old groovy platform, which is scheduled to be shut down at the end of 2022.

To find Edge Drivers and other current code, see the new Edge Drivers page.

We are leaving the remainder of this page in place because it can still be helpful to developers. But if you are a regular user, please see the Edge Drivers page instead.

Many community members enjoy writing smartapps and device type handlers (DTH) and then sharing them with others. There is a category in the official smartthings community forum just for this purpose. However, with so many entries it can be hard to find the solutions that you're looking for.

Fortunately, you can quick browse the forum by using the tags.

This page is separated into sections:

Groovy SmartApps

Groovy Device Type Handlers

Edge Drivers

Project Reports

Quick Browse Links for Groovy SmartApps

Below are a list of links to the most common SmartApp tags. These lists only show community-created custom code. There are many additional features available in the official "solutions" like SmartLighting and Smart Home Monitor as well as the officially-published smartapps listed in the Marketplace section of the official mobile app.

Note that Samsung has announced that it will no longer provide a free Groovy cloud in the future. On August 17, 2022, it was announced that the shut down would occur on September 30, 2022. At that point, none of the custom groovy smartapps listed below will work. This includes Webcore. If the functionality cannot be reproduced with the automations available in the SmartThings app or the official Rules API, it will have to be completely rewritten and hosted elsewhere. For more information, see the Announcements section of the SmartThings community forum.

remember this will only return a list of community created custom code device handlers. There are many more devices that can work with the official DTHs.

These will be available under the Add a Device feature in the SmartThings app. Some devices will have community-created Edge Drivers. See the Edge Drivers section of this page for the ones that are currently available. For more information, see the Announcements section of the SmartThings community forum.
